Cookie Care & Storage Guide
Every Cookie Nook treat is baked fresh in our Tennessee cottage kitchen and delivered ready to enjoy. A little care goes a long way toward keeping that soft, chewy, just-from-the-oven texture. Here is how to store, reheat, and share your cookies and brownies so they taste as good as the moment they left our kitchen in Drummonds.
Keeping Your Cookies Fresh
Our cookies stay fresh at room temperature for up to five days when stored correctly. Keep them in an airtight container at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat. Placing a slice of bread in the container helps the cookies stay soft by sharing moisture, while a single sugar cube keeps decorated cookies crisp. Avoid refrigerating cookies, as the cold dries them out and makes them brittle. Sandwich cookies and brownies keep best in a sealed container with parchment between layers so the fillings do not stick.
Reheating for That Just-Baked Warmth
For the bakery experience at home, warm your cookies in a 300°F oven for three to five minutes, or microwave a single cookie for about ten seconds. Warming revives the melty chocolate and soft center without overcooking. Let brownies come to room temperature on the counter for the fudgiest texture, or warm a slice briefly for a gooey, dessert-bar feel. Always let filled and sandwich cookies rest for a minute after reheating so the filling is not too hot.
Freezing for Later
Cookies and brownies freeze beautifully for up to three months. Wrap each cookie individually in plastic wrap, then place them in a freezer-safe bag with as much air pressed out as possible. Thaw frozen cookies at room temperature for about an hour, or warm them straight from frozen in a 300°F oven. Freezing is a great way to stock up on seasonal boxes or save a Baker's Choice Sample Box for an upcoming celebration.
Transporting & Gifting
When transporting cookies, keep the container flat and out of a hot car. For gifting, stack cookies with parchment between layers and add a small ice pack in summer to protect decorated treats. A handwritten note with the date baked and a link to this guide makes any gift box feel personal and keeps the recipient enjoying the cookies at their best.
